Clean Wisconsin Action Fund proudly announced its endorsement today of Dale Klemme for State Assembly. Klemme is running in Wisconsin’s 96th Assembly District which includes all of Crawford and Vernon Counties, as well as five townships in Richland County and six townships in Monroe County.
“Wisconsin’s environment faces many threats today, and we expect to see a number of important conservation bills in the next legislative session,” said Gary Goyke, board chair of the Clean Wisconsin Action Fund. “We know we can count on Dale Klemme to make decisions that will help protect Wisconsin’s clean air and clean water.”

Electing candidates who have a strong commitment to conservation can do more than protect our natural resources, it can also help build Wisconsin’s economy. A recent report demonstrated that by investing in energy efficiency and clean energy production like wind, solar, and geothermal power, Wisconsin could create 37,000 new jobs.
“By investing in clean energy technologies, we can create thousands of family-supporting jobs in our state,” Goyke said. “We need leaders who understand this amazing opportunity.”
Klemme is committed to working toward energy independence in Wisconsin by supporting renewable energy and the development and growth of a biofuels market.
“Dale Klemme’s strong commitment to conservation and energy independence will help ensure Wisconsin sees strong economic growth and that we enjoy a clean, healthy environment,” Goyke said.

Dale Klemme Wednesday Issue--Campaign Reform
Dale Klemme is an independent-minded candidate that resists the "rubber stamp" approach to politics. His website notes, "You want a rubber stamper? Look elsewhere."
He also has taken a lot of unfair hits from 527 groups that have no obligation to disclose who is paying for the ads. Click_here to listen to his comments on the issue at the October 14th candidate forum in Viroqua sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Vernon Area Business and Professional Women. The question related to his view of outside influences on campaigns, and especially in judicial races.
In a Express_Milwaukee article about how these groups are operating in the state, they mention the 96th race specifically,
The group’s radio ads contain candidates’ home phone numbers. Democrat Dale Klemme, running for an Assembly seat in Crawford and Vernon counties, said that he’s fielded a few calls, half of which were from constituents who were disgusted with the group’s allegations and tactics.
Klemme said he found it ironic that the ad criticized him for accepting out-of-state money when Wisconsin Family Action doesn’t have to disclose its own donors.
Dale is clearly poised to be a leader on many fronts of reforming government in Wisconsin. From health_care to tax_fairness, he will do the right thing.

Dale Klemme Wednesday on Education and Youth Issues
We have a responsibility to provide an education system that will enable our children to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Every child should have the opportunity to pursue the American dream and in order to succeed they need a solid foundation from which to build upon. As your State Representative, I will fight to strengthen our public education system through higher standards, greater accountability, and providing our children with the necessary tools to succeed in the real world.
Click Read More for details on funding and teaching issues.
Funding
Locally we fund education with property tax. Over time the state has exempted or discounted approximately one-third of the local property from property tax. That’s fine for those with the exemptions, but who winds up paying? You know the answer to that – you and I.
It used to be that employing people and being in business meant big buildings and new property taxes. The trend now is toward service sector jobs – less building, less property tax base, but greater educational needs for workers. The way we do business has changed, but the way we finance education has not.
As long as we rely upon the present system of funding education, we have some work to do.
Teaching
People want value for their tax dollars. As a taxpayer, I don’t mind paying for services, as long as I am receiving value for the dollar. That means we need to constantly re-examine how we operate to make sure it is most cost effective.
We need to make sure we are implementing effective teaching techniques to reach the children of today, and that we are teaching them the skills to meet the workplace needs of tomorrow.

Dale Klemme Wednesday on Health Care and Women's Issues
Dale Klemme is running for State Assembly (District 96) and has a firm commitment to making health care affordable and accessible to all Wisconsin citizens.
He believes any discussion of health care reform and ensuring comprehensive health care needs to include women's health. We must ensure that women of all ages, from young girls, to women of childbearing age, to older women have access to the type of specific health care they need, regardless of income or employment. Here are more of his views on the subject from his position_paper:
We can find an affordable health care program that will provide coverage to every Wisconsin resident. To do so, it will take courageous individuals who will stand up to the powerful forces of lobbyists and institutions with virtually unlimited money and whose primary objective is to ‘preserve the status quo’ or ‘don’t rock the boat.’ As voters, you don’t send people to Madison to deal with the easy issues. You send them there to solve the real issues, concerns that are truly life or death.
In the last 10 months we have seen some serious discussion on this matter, after virtual silence for the prior 10 years. I stand for discussion and dialogue until the problem is solved.
Dale understands this will take time and negotiation, but he is on the right side of the issue and willing to put the hard work and time into making a solution for the good of the State and its people. He sees this as tax relief, economic development and clearly a priority of the people in this District.
